Hello,

I was wondering has anyone from this news group purchased a  used
Jaguar from ths company.  www.texascarsdirect.com  They have 2003
s-types with low milage.  The selling prices are very attractive.
Starting at $28k.    Any comments??

Thank you all

Interesting comment "Run from Jags"
I have a Full sized Dodge van with 77,000 miles on it that is a nightmare, A
Nissan 300ZX which is a great car --except to work on, A Chrysler Mini-van
with a Mitsubishi engine that isn't worth the money for a bullet to put it
out of it's misery and 3 Jags.  The '88 XJ40 has nearly 200,000 trouble free
miles on it except for the ordinary niggles of any car with 200,000 miles
and I would drive it coast to coast without a worry.  I have two 37 year old
Jags one of which is show and the other is a daily driver and has been for
37 years.

I can't tell you about a 2003 S-Type, but if it is anything like my 1967
S-Type you should run TO the car -- not away from it!!
Go to a couple of Jag website and read what other owners are saying

interesting comment ....

I have had 3 jags, 2 Daimlers and now an XJ Sport.  One Daimler I traded at
250,000km never had a thing wrong other than the usual consumables.  The
current 'sport is 7 years old, has 102,000km on it and is far more reliable
than any ford or GM car I have ever had (and I have had plenty of them).
The comment "run from jags" may have been worthy in the dark days of Leyland
ownership, but not since Ford bought the company and put some much needed
capital into it.

The comment is a typical one from the uninformed...........

Hey Now! - 21 Mar 2004 20:54 GMT
>Run from Jags....

Thats a pretty stupid and unhelpful comment.  Of the recent cars I
have owned, my '03 S-Type has been the most enjoyable and trouble
free.

Recent Cars:
1993 Audi S4 - Lemon Law Buyback
1994 Saab Turbo Convertible - No major issues
1995 Saab 900SE V6 - Traded at 30k miles on third engine
1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 - One of the worst ever.  4 trannys
1998 VW GTI - No Major Issues
2000 VW New Beetle Turbo - Lots of electrical gremlins
2000 Suzuki GV - Engine melted down at 97k miles AC never worked
2004 Jeep Libery - So far so good
2003 Jaguar S-Type R - Not a single problem.  Love it.

Any car from any manuafacturer has the potential to suck.  If a Jag is
what you like, buy it.

I bought a 2000 XJ8 from them three years ago. The car was 16 months
old and had 16,600 miles and looked brand new. There was still over 2
years left on the factory warantee    -   didn't need it, nothing ever
went wrong. I am very happy with the car and the dealer. I plan on
getting another in a couple of years from them.

We just bought a 03 S-type and LOVE it!!!!!  We did a lot of research on
these cars and determined that the S-type was the way to go.  The only thing
to be an issue is the warranty, With ours we ended up with the remainder of
the factory warranty and the used car warranty that lasts to 100,000 miles
or I think till 2009.

Good luck!!!

Make sure you get a good long warranty. You'll need it. I'm on my second Jag
and sorry I got into this new disaster. I figured they improved but NO NO
NO...
