I was in a quandry about mounting location, also. (My XM unit is the
Roady, so I've got a little bit smaller a "footprint" to worry about
than if it were the SkyFi unit) Finally, I decided to get a Vehicle
Specific Mount. Go to:

Find your vehicle make, model, year, etc. The mount comes with
complete instructions as to how to get into your dash cavity.
I'll bet that I had mine installed within 15 minutes.

Thanks for the tips...ashtray is too small for XM receivers. I will check
out the mounting hardware. Looks like the best way to go.

You'll like it. It really makes for a clean looking install. Now if
I could only find that antenna adaptor. I got online with Circuit
City. Their online help wasn't. Will have to stop into one of their
stores whenever I get to a larger metro area.
