The rattle is from two vents behind the rear seat. These open to release
the pressurized air when the door closes.
They can be seen from inside the boot/trunk in the upper half of the
panel behind the rear seat.
Originally they would have had a piece of foam to dampen the noise but
that will almost certainly have crumbled and disappeared.
Hope this helps
Chris
Thanks--Do I access these be removing the panel behind the rear seat with
those large bolts?

Hi Terry,
It's a while since I owned a Series II.
These are hinged flaps that open into the boot.
I think that they are accessed from within the boot.
To remove them you may need to remove the back of the seat.
Undo the two screws under the front of the seat squab, lift and pull
forward to remove the seat.
At the bottom of the back there are two bolts. Remove and then lift the
back of the seat. It should come out.
You should now be able to see these flaps - upper half, about 1 metre apart.
Regards
Chris

Easy, open the boot lid and you will see the flaps through the rectangular
holes just under the back of the boot lip. Grab a pair of long nosed
pliers, grip them, twist em and pull them out. If that fails, that whol
black pannel can be removed by undoing the nuts under neath and around the
edges.
Been there done that :-)
