My 2001 GC's inline 6 engines suddenly stops ...  .. tried fuel cleaners and
that
seemed to helped a bit
.. engine quits but the electrical power stays on.. sometimes just shifting
into neutral and restarting solves the problem .. other times several
restarts will start the engine back .. had Jeep to change the fuel filter ..
could it be a dirty throttle body sensor ?? .. thanks for any help

Could be any number of things.  Dirty TPS usually just makes it drop
mileage or at worst run bad.

The crankshaft sensor might be it, but that usually warns you with
hiccups or other bad running before it dies, but if that sensor flakes
out, the engine halts immediately.

Fuel pressure sensor detecting  too low a pressure will turn off the
engine also.

If you have the auto temp control, you can pull fault codes from it.
Otherwise, try an Autozone or other place that will loan you a scan
tool.   A quick scan of error codes could save you a lot of time and
money.

One item that scan wouldnt show would be any aftermarket alarm/disable
systems.  Some systems may be good, but most are installed by electrical
 idiots.
