need to remove transfer case?I not even sure of the model number for the
transmission but i will phone crysler for info.I am an amatuer..with some
tools and a haynes manual heh heh.Just wondering if i could do it myself or
leave it to the professsionals?

You have an Aisin AX-5 transmission and yes, the transfer case will need to
be removed since the transmission is bolted between the engine and transfer
case.

If you don't have a transmission jack, and know what your doing, split
the transfer case and transmission. The combination of the two is hard
to handle and heavy. Stand by with rags to push in the output shaft
areas, the fluid will spill out if you don't drain it out first.

If you need a good used AX-5, let me know. I just pulled one from my
'97 2.5L for an engine swap. Located in MD.  -David
