I'm sure I tried at the time, but strangely, today I stopped by the place I
had it towed to, just for a visit. I got behind the wheel, and it drove just
fine, and they hadn't looked at it. Don't know what the problem could have
been. Actually I have a sneeking suspicion that I do know what the problem
was, but it is embarassingly stupid of me, I have noticed now, that I have
driven the thing a bit more that once or twice I have tried to go in to
reverse, but it doesn't go fully in, for all the world it feels like it is,
but there is just slightly less travel than one might expect on the gear. I
think I might have repeatedly missed reverse on it, and hence was spinning
the thing in neutral (doh!).
At least I found out before mr. mechanic had a look at it, and laughed at me
:).

If that's the case, you'll hear a grinding noise (if it's 5spd that is) as
the gear tries to mesh. Happens all the time to me. Simply double clutch
when going into R.
