Just recieved this from a freind of mine.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
This was not an easy email for me to write.
After nine long but successful years we have decided to suspend operations
of the JeepR Jamboree Canada program for 2007.
The main reasons were outlined in my email of January 9th. Basically we
cannot find a way to fund the operation this year.
DaimlerChrysler was a major financial contributor to the program and without
their support we have no means of continuing.
I never would have imagined that the corporation that contracted with us to
develop and produce the Jamboree program in the first place would abandon
us, especially when the event is 100% targeted at owners of their product.
As you all know the actual events run at a loss or best case scenario, break
even. This does not include the costs of administration of the program
including web hosting, updating and maintaining a fully encrypted e-commerce
website, banking fees associated with the acceptance of credit cards
on-line, database management and reports, liability insurance, equipment,
1-888 #'s, office staff and field personnel.
Without financial support from sponsors we cannot keep the program going.
I wish to thank the sponsors we have attracted to the program and who have
supported us over the years. They have generously provided products as
prizing for our participants and Club members.
However, without a major title sponsor who supports the program financially
as well as with product, we cannot continue to operate.
Any event or series of events typically have a title sponsor, category
sponsors and sponsorship at different levels of participation depending on
the exposure received through association with the event.
We have not actively pursued bringing on financial sponsors because we
always assumed that DaimlerChrysler would support the program.
That is why we are suspending the operation of JeepR Jamboree Canada in 2007
and not cancelling the program.
My hope is that by devoting this year to finding new sponsorship we can
resume operation of JeepR Jamboree Canada in 2008.
Our legal council have advised that we include the following statement;
JeepR, JeepR Jamboree and JeepR Jamboree Canada are registered trademarks of
DaimlerChrysler Corporation. Any use of the name JeepR or the use of the
words JeepR and Jamboree in context of naming, promoting or running an event
for owners and operators of JeepR vehicles, without written consent of
DaimlerChrysler is a contravention of international trademark law and
subject to the full enforcement of the law in the case of unauthorized use.
I support the fact that Clubs wish to organize and put on their own events,
however please do not use the words JeepR or JeepR Jamboree or any
derivative of these words to promote your events.
A statement is being prepared that will be posted to our
www.jeepjamboreecanada.com website
and sent out to all of our sponsors and supporters.
Thank you all for looking at our situation and providing your feedback in
recent weeks.
I personally thank all of you for your support over the years.
Best regards,
Ron Baker

This is extremely sad news!
Being that John C (JJC General Manager) is a member of our club we had a
heads up on this and a Nova Scotia event is in the works...
It may not be the Jamboree but an awesome event in the same fashion...
We expect it to be bigger and better than ever!

Ya but if I leave now I don't think my CJ would get there for it.
Sad for us too, I've been to 2 with my wife and daughter, this year we had
planned on going again with a freind of mine who has been trying to get his
jeep ready for it, has an 11 year old daughter that was thrilled about it.

Well...CRAP!
So much for that trip this year. =( Maybe I will have to go up and meet up with
some folks from the local clubs for my "fix" this year.

Sir, if you only look at what the Germans have done to the entire Jeep
line in the last few years you will understand. They are attempting
to milk the Jeep brand for every DOLLAR available. They have slapped
"Jeep" on every flimsy piece of crap that they can think of.
This year (2007) was the last straw when they not only redesigned the
Wrangler body to allow TWO WHEEL DRIVE versions but also replaced the
Indestructible Inline 6 with that "Throw Away" aluminum V-6. There
is no longer any reason to buy a new Jeep since they don't exist.
My answer to this is to just build myself a new CJ from all
aftermarket parts.

All this corporate garble what about 30 people getting together for a
weekend of offroading? That doesn't cost millions of dollars!
Terrible news.

Maybe DaimlerChrysler stopped supporting the jamboree
because they know the Wrangler 4 door can't perform
as well as the CJ,YJ,TJ and may even break on the trail :-)
Might make them look bad
