My buddy gave me his old set of Greenish 1996 Half doors and soft
uppers. They need work. Especially the soft uppers. When i try them to
see the fit, it seems the angle is off a bit. Looks like the door is
1.5 " too low on closing. How easy is it to re-do the hinges and will
the 1996 fit a 2002 with a bit of work?

You are trying to mix apples and oranges.  The AMC designed Jeep parts
won't fit on the Chrysler designed TJ.

The size and shape are too different.  I am not even sure the hinge pins
are the same size so you could tear it totally apart ad redesign it
using the AMC parts...

There is no such thing as a 1996 YJ.  They skipped that year and the first
TJ was a 1997.  I can't picture what you mean by "too low on closing" but do
the bottoms fit?  The OEM soft uppers have an angle in the upper back
corner, not a radius like the TJ soft uppers.  If you have rounded corner
uppers it is possible that they are part of a Bestop Supertop or other
aftermarket solution.  When the first TJs came out, the dealer parts guy let
me try out a soft upper on my YJ.  As I remember it didn't fit at all.
Everything was about 1.5" off, and the angle was all wrong.  It was a long
time ago, but as I remember the mounting pins didn't even line up.

This is not to say you can't do it, but you have a lot of work ahead.

Now if these doors are Emerald Green Pearl Coat I might be interested in
them.

That was a '97 color. Do you have the spice top, too? Just like mine...

That was a '95 color too.  Now it is almost time to get one of those Bestop
Replace-A-Tops.  I have the Black Denim top, which is OK but I am getting
bored with it.  How do you like the Spice top?

Thanks for any comments.

That's been my combination since day one (12-20-96). I replaced my top with
a Bestop Replace-A-Top last year. It's almost the same except for the front
windows. They attach with velcro because you have to cut off the old tops.

Digital camera technology sure has changed in 10 years. My new Kodak would
get the color a lot closer then the one used to take this picture:

I think I'll go for it.  Thanks.  That's a terrible rendition of Emerald
Green.

Sounds like these, but in reverse Earle.

Guess I'll just do another summer of no doors when Its sunny.
I'll clean them up, and post pictures over the weekend and give them
to you for $50 CAD but I have to warn you - the zippers on the uppers
need repair, and they aren't in excellent shape.
They are probably this color here:

but like i said i'll post pics.

I don't care about uppers.  The idea is to save painting my present black
half doors to match the rest of the Jeep.  These guys
http://www.gemini-sales.com/ might have TJ half doors.  They are the ones
who sold me the half doors I have now.  I have dealt with them from time to
time, and service is excellent, parts were in good condition, etc.

I warned you! If I took a picture now, it would be emerald green salt coat...

Snow is forecast for Monday night and Tuesday so no hose off this weekend.
It's too soon to tell if this will be a 4X4 event!
