Sam,
FWIW, I have the same model/vintage as yourself. In July, I went from
Michelin Cross-Terrains to the Michelin LTX M+S. My out-the-door cost
from the local Discount Tire was $458.78. PLUS, there was a $40
mail-in rebate that I got from their online site, so my end cost was
under $420 and includes road hazard / re-balancing / rotations.
They were price-matching a quotation that I'd gotten from another
local store (Grand Rapids, MI) that would let me have 225s or 235s for
that price.
So, if you liked your Michelins, I'd encourage you to put some
pressure on DT or Bell Tire.
BTW, how did the LTXs do in the snow for you?

They were fine in the snow and I live in the UP. They are easily the
best tire I have ever rode on. I bought them from Belle Tire in
Southfield. I was so amazed with them right off the bat I said to heck
with it..... I'm going to take these babies for a spin on the freeway.
I can't do much in the bargaining area cause while there are lotsa
tire stores they are all small so they need to make their price. I was
able to shave $40 of the BFG's. Thanks for the reply

Forgive my ignorance, but where is the UP?

It means Michigan Upper Peninsula, which is the part bordering
Wisconsin. Also where I live. :)

Sam,
My brothers-in-law live in Manistee County (Lower Penin.), which gets
plenty of snow. Because of the price, they tried Cooper tires. I
believe that they first had an all-terrain tread, but now have settled
on the Discoverer M+S. They have a rather soft rubber compound which
makes them terrific in snow and on ice. However, the compromise is a
more rapid wearing on dry roads.
