It wasn't the Jeep factory one, it was the Bestop Hardtop with removable targa, it hadn't even been installed yet.
P.S. When the divorce is finally over, I'll miss that Jeep.

Heh, I've been there, done that. Sucks doesn't it... kinda. That's the trouble with falling in lust, eventually the new wears off.
On an UP note, you're on the beach? Whooo hooo! Which beach?

As far as chasin' girls, after three failed marriages, I'm not in any hurry for another headache at 44yoa.
So, I'm just piddlin' with the '87 until I"m ready to unleash it on the road full time.
I'm finishing up the wheels right now, with a lot of help from 98TJ, he's a primo guy, and one good arm. I had major shoulder surgery, which has held me back tremendously.

Third time around, no kids with this marriage, just > married for all the wrong reasons. > Didn't work out, decided to move to the beach, and start over fresh. Scientists found a gene a few years ago that apparently makes mice monogamous or promiscuous. Don't know if humans have it or not. My wife thinks it has something to do with stubbornness and not admitting that, you know, maybe this isn't perfect but it sort of works. At least I didn't get one of those clingy ones that calls you twenty times a day and gets jealous if you happen to talk to a twenty-something with a knock out body. Some of them just don't believe that "she's just a coworker" line, or that married men are still allowed to look.
Heh. Can't complain. Third grand child on the way. Another all nighter with a screaming female, nurses running in and out. Hope there's an all night coffee bar close by, or I'll have to fill up the thermos again.
On the hard top, offer to help them install it at your place. I'm sure you have the tools. Have too, owning a Jeep.
Feliz Cinco de Mayo,
Earle

Kate - 01 May 2008 16:14 GMT The hardtop comes in awfully handy in the cold weather Nathan... You may want to reconsider.
I put mine on in November and take it off in late February.
Much quicker when trying to load stuff into the back and keeps you quite a bit warmer too.

I LOVE playing in the snow with my Jeep! We hooked a rope up to the back of it and everyone took a turn skiing behind it, except the little guy. We inprovised and used a trash can lid for a saucer.

A winner makes commitment. A loser makes promises.
The path of least resistance is the path of the loser.
Will Honea - 04 May 2008 15:59 GMT Well, we waited out the road closures due to blowing and drifting snow in Wyoming. Having spent a lot of time watching winds for pilot training bases and being out in a two or three hurricanes I'd put the wind speed out there at 70+ kts - weather reports were "hurricane force winds".
We were waiting it out at a rest stop when a guy walked in all wet muttering that it was so strong that just pissing IN the wind was as bad as pissing into it with that much speed.
Oh, well, at least it blew all the snow off the highway so it was easy going once the snow let up - if you discount the cross wind effects.

FrankW - 02 May 2008 13:19 GMT Hi Nathan I drove a 88YJ Soft top with half doors for 12 years here in Ottawa Canada. (By the way this spring is the 20th year for me driving a Jeep) In the winter it really wasn't too bad. Only on the cold days -20C /-4F, it was it kinda cool inside. I remember it snowing inside the Jeep a few times. I vowed then, that the next Jeep would have the hard top for the winters. One real advantage of the hard top is during hunting season I could lock the guns in the jeep, feeling a little safer when at the beer store :-) Other than that the soft top is quite adequate in the winter. But then you heard all this before with your previous jeep eh. Cheers Frank

Had to drive a couple of hours to pick it up but didn't mind. I have seen them locally in the paper anywhere from $900 - $1200. It doesn't get horribly cold in North Alabama, but I like to have it for the winter season. I keep it in my storage locker during the summer.

RSMuddog - 04 May 2008 08:19 GMT Social Security (UNCLASSIFIED)
Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn't know this. It's easy to check out, if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what .and it doesn't matter whether you are Democrat of Republican. Facts are Facts!!!
Our Social Security
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program. He promised: 1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400 of their annual Incomes into the Program
3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the independent 'Trust Fund' rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore, would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no other Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income.
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to 'put away' -- you may be interested in the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent 'Trust Fund' and put it into the general fund so that Congress cou ld spe nd it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Par t y, with Al Gore casting the 'tie-breaking' deciding vote as President of the Senate, while he was Vice President of the US
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:
That's right!
Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party. immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to them, even though they never paid a dime into it!
-------------- -------------------------- ------------------------------
Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve. Maybe not, some Democrats are awfully sure of what isn't so.
But it's worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?
Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.
AND CONGRESS GIVES THEMSELVES 100% RETIREMENT AND FULL MEDICAL FOR ONLY SERVING ONE TERM!!!
A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have. -Thomas Jefferson
