What does "235/75SR15 C" versus "235/75SR15 SL" mean? I know what the
numbers stand for, but what about the SR, C, and SL?

ok, the S bit of SR means that it is rated up to 112mph.
N=87
P=93
Q=99
R=106
S=112
T=118
U=124
H=130
V or Z=149
W=168
Y=186
The R bit, if combined with one of the letters above, usually means "Radial"
The last bit is not so well defined as there is no industry standard for it:
the load rating.
SL standard load up to 35 psi or extra load rating (XL up to 41 psi).
I don't know what the units are...
The way Bridgestone do it, and again they don't make clear what the units
are,
is to express a load rating based on the number of plies. A means 2 plies, B
means 4,
C means 6 ... N means 24.
