Any opinion on replacing the OEM driving lights.
The original OEM are junk (Taiwan), just replaced one and it is already
starting to fade and rust in 6 months...
I would like to keep as simple as possible on the wiring connections and fit
where the old ones do...
I looked at the bulb in the OEM and it is 100 watts!! wow that seems like a
lot..Do not want to have to change wiring (connector obviously) etc to add
different ones...
What would be a good light set?
Thanks
Tom
If you are installing another 100W lighting system, then you can just cut
the old lights off and splice the new ones on and be done.
If you want to use more than 100W lights, then you should add a relay that
is picked by the existing lighting system, and feed fatter wries through the
relay contacts to actually operate the lights. 100W lamps take 8.3A (each)
to run, and 150W lamps take 12.5A (each). This will take your fuse to the
lighting circuit from 20A to 30A. Logic says the wires will get hot with
this new load. I would be adding a relay and a dedicated wire with its own
fuse.
