I've got a Mopar 60 Gold Series Battery that appears to be worn out and no
longer holding a charge. (600 Cold Cranking Amps, 5 Year limited warranty,
CAT # 34-60, Part # 04364944)
This battery is a little less than two years old. Does anyone happen to know
the warranty info regarding this battery? Do I get a free replacement since
it is under two years old, or is it pro-rated? If prorated, approx cost?
Thanks!
James

Hi james,
I'd give the Stealership a call. If you have more time than I think
you have then there's an email contact addresses at:

Thanks, Bill.
An FYI for anyone buying Mopar batteries: Be SURE to keep your receipt and
be ready to return the battery to the dealer you purchased it from if you
have a problem.
After calling 6 local dealers (FL), I was told by all of them that Mopar
batteries are NOT covered by ANY warranty unless you are the original owner
of a new vehicle that came with a Mopar battery as standard equipment; OR
you purchased the battery from Mopar parts and have your original receipt.
In addition, I was told that even with a receipt you should go to the dealer
where the battery was purchased, since no other dealer is obligated to take
back the battery, although some do decide to.
Unfortunately, this means that if you purchased a used vehicle from a dealer
and have them install a new battery as part of the deal it effectively has
no warranty unless you get a separate receipt.

I have the same battery; bought three so far. None have gotten to or through
the warranty period. With 13 months left on this one The Dodge dealer in
Florida told me he would credit 78 cents for the unused 13 months toward a
new battery ($90). However the warranty would only be for the remaining 13
months. If I reject the 78 cents and pay the full price then I would get a 60-
month warranty as stated on the battery by Mopar. They seem to run a scam on
the warranty. Without the receipt they would not even offer 78 cents. The new
battery's value is $120 according to the parts manager, so they claim to lose
money by charging only $90. This was their way to get you in the dealer's
shop according to the parts manager.
The Senior Customer rep at Chrysler Dodge told me that Mopar warranties their
batteries for 12 months-- that all. She (Gail) had no notion of my claim for
a pro rata warranty. She said that each dealer is independent and assumes the
responsibility for such parts and services. Dodge is out of the loop. She
seemed so disingenuous and uninformed about Mopar's warranty.
My first Mopar failed within 12 months and was replaced at no charge under
warranty. The other two were replaced with a pro rata adjustment. The latest
offer was the worst I have ever heard from the local Dodge dealer and the
senior Staff Rep for Chrysler. They have some serious problems!
I went elsewhere and bought an Interstate with nationwide warranty for 81
months, higher ampere ratings and only $71.
Based on my experience with Dodge reps and Mopar batteries, I would caution
anyone trying to go through what I did. The Dodge organization is obviously
having internal problems and the quality of its products and services are
hurting from my experience. Buyers should read their warranty in writing;
chances are there is no such document in your possession.
You may want to try something better than Dodge or Mopar based on my
misadventure with Dodge and Mopar.
