Very simply, you are incorrect.
I went to an auto store, looked up the size - 13" - Purchased the
replacement blade, as well as the two for the front.
I got home, EASILY replaced the front two blades, and moved to the rear.
That blade came off differently, and was similar, but NOT THE SAME as
the front. The hook-shaped "stem" on which the blade is mounted was a
different thickness. The replacement blade would NOT fit.

Yes you are correct in your assertion that KIA uses non-standard blade
sizes for its rear window. This goes for the armature as well. My
Sorento has a non-standard rear blade, as I believe do the Rondo and
Sportage as well.
However, that should tell you that the only source which is guaranteed
to have the equipment is your KIA dealership. In fact, I have asked
other garages have been told the same thing: Go to KIA.
As a result, I get both front wipers from an inexpensive 3rd party
supplier while I pay the full price at KIA for the rear. Fortunately,
I only replace that wiper once a year, even with a full winter. I'll
ask about replacing just the rubber blade next time I go in, provided
the frame is still in good shape.
In short, I think you are beating a dead horse. Perhaps when the
number of people in North America who own newer models of KIA cars
(2003 and up) grows to a more significant percentage, we will see more
of these parts available elsewhere. Until then, my advice is to suck
it up and pay the full price.
Life is too short to quibble over the price of a wiper. :-)

Thank you. I appreciate your response.
I started this out as a simple question with no quibbling. I found
myself being treated like a bleeding idiot for suggesting what you have
just confirmed.
I'll stop by the local dealer and have him order me a new blade.

Did you realize that with the new blade came 2 or 3 adapters to fit
different arms ???
Also the instructions pointed that, and have diagrams to help you
install it.
It's the same blade used on the Santa Fe, I had replaced mine 3 times
already (03 Santy), not problems, remove the adapter in the new blade,
fit the correct one, and you are ready to go.

Where, I ask, exactly WHERE did I imply that I couldn't read a simple
set of instructions?
Ok, for those of you that have one or two nagging little questions:
1) I noticed my rear wiper was streaking.
2) I inspected it and found that the rubber had pulled away from the
support structure of the blade. 3) I decided it needed replacement.
4) I went to Wal-Mart and looked up the correct sizes and options.
5) I decided to replace all three wipers.
6) I selected my three new blades.
7) I took them up front and paid for them.
8) I drove home.
9) I opened and installed the front two blades.
10) I opened the package for the rear blade.
11) I reviewed the contents.
12) I read the instructions.
13) I removed the original blade.
14) I realized the new one WOULD NOT FIT.
15) I tried it anyway - IT WOULD NOT FIT. No adapters would make up the
difference. The supporting arm is thicker.
16) I came into the house.
17) I posted my original question.
You say you're a Santa Fe owner. Well, a Santa Fe is NOT a RIO 5.
Just because you think I am an idiot doesn't mean you have to prove to
everyone that -YOU- are.

Well you sure proved it. :-) My God are you so hard up you can't afford one
simple Kia OEM wiper blade?

All I was asking for was an inexpensive place to buy a replacement.
You're the one that made a Federal case out of it.

I'll gladly take whatever money you're stupid enough to send.
