After putting this Sportage together and thinking one of my problems causing a minor cut-out, was a the need for a new fuel filter, I tried to buy one from auto stores. No can do!I did find one for a KIA Sephia 1994, I owned one for 2 years and had excellent luck with it. It sure looked the same for my Sportage!Well, I made a trip to the "dealer" (as in drugs!). They gave me a price of $39 plus some coin. NO WAY! I went back to Schuck's and bought the one for the Sephia---fits perfect--less than 20 bucks, still a rip-off, but better than 39. The 39 dollar one gives you the bracket---big deal.

I have 55k on my 2001 Optima and have been thinking I should change the
filter.  Every once in a while the motor hiccups at highway speeds.

I found a BOSCH filter for my Optima online for 22 bucks, anyone know where
this inline filter goes?.

The Optima Fuel Filter is located under the car on the drivers side. Be
prepared to use some mussles to get the old one loose. I needed
ultimately, vice grips
