I don't know about the Kia Sedona's 2.9L diesel specifically (it's not
offered here in the US), but I do know about diesels in general.
First, you only need to use the priming plunger if you ran out of fuel. If
you did run out, there are a few things which could still be wrong, namely
you could have an air pocket in the injector lines or pump that the primer
won't clear (in this case you will have to bleed the injector lines), or you
could have a clogged fuel line from the tank to the primer or the filter
itself or the pick-up screen in the tank could be plugged up. For either
the thing to do is replace the filter - which is the first thing to do on
any fuel related problem and see if the problem persists.
Second, you could have water in the tank and fuel lines from a bad batch at
your last fill up. If the Sedona has a fuel/water seperator, then make sure
you drain it before anything else. If you picked up an especially large
amount of water you may need your fuel tank pumped out and all of the fuel
lines flushed all the way to the injectors.
Third, it may not be a fuel related issue, but an air issue. In this case
check the intake and/or replace your air filter. If something is clogging
it up then you will starve your motor for air and it will not fire or run.
Lastly, the engine diagnostic computer most likely set a code (or several)
when your engine stalled. You will need to have the codes downloaded and
that will give you a place to start diagnosing the problem.
Good luck - Jonathan
