Todd:
Depending on where the bracing is on the underside of your hood, a
*good* bodyshop may be able to have go from underneath the hood and
"tap out" the ripples. Even if there's a brace right under the ding,
I'd bet that they can drill a small hole in it to allow their tool to
get to the upper sheetmetal.
When I bought my new KIA Spectra last year, I noticed a good sized door
ding in it when I saw it in the daylight for the first time. I told
the dealership that I wouldn't accept the vehicle with the ding, nor if
it had to be repainted to correct it.
They said "Don't worry", and then they took it to a specialist at a
local bodyshop that popped it out from behind. You'd never know that
there was ever a ding there! I was totally satisfied with the results.
So..... that's my recommendation. Let us know on here how it turns
out!

I also found a indented area on roof and a dent on a rear door I never
noticed them till later when I was washing my Sorento. It's not bothering
me I don't like it but I also don't like having small thing messed with
because many times later the paint starts looking bad in the repaired
spots. I just remember it's a truck.
