my tail lights and parking lights won't come on, i have checked the bulbs
and they are ok so what else can i check

Do your brake lights work?
Do your turn signals work?
Do your warning flashers work?
If these all work, try checking for a burnt fuse.

It sounds as if your DRL (daytime running light module) has got up and quit
(if eqquiped)
