I have an '04 Sorento and the brake lights are out. The bulbs are good. The
fuses under the dash and hood are fine. I have an appointment with the
dealer, however - after calling 7 dealerships in the area, no one has had
this problem and they don't have a clue where to begin.
Anyone with a "resolved issue" like this, can you share what they found so I
can relay this information to the dealer. Kia wasn't aware of this problem
and there is no recall on it.
Thanks, Anita

Greetings,
We've never had this issue with our '03 Sorento but you should do yourself
the favor and not take it to any dealer's servcie dept. that says they don't
know where to start.
The first and most obvious things to look at (after the bulbs, which you
said you already checked) are a bad ground, a bad power supply going to the
fuse, and a bad brake light switch on the brake pedal (my bet). After that
it's bad connectors in the harness, then cut wires.
It's not brain surgery to follow the electrical pathway from source to
ground, but it may take some time.
Cheers - Jonathan
