Is there a common(cheap) pick a part wheel with the correct bolt
pattern, back spacing, and off-set to use as winter wheels on my 06 Sorento?
Id like to mount 4 big snow tires on them.

There must be as I have a set of steel wheels on which I've mounted Yokohama
Geolandar I/T+ tires.  They have the proper size (245/70/R16) and nothing
seemed "exotic" about them.  I don't know the make of the rims as I had the
tire garage do the choosing.

FWIW, here is my review.  Read the addendum at the bottom:

Tire size:      245/70/16  (T speed rating)
Vehicle:        2003 Kia Sorento EX Luxury
Location:       Montreal
Install date:   November 10, 2005

I've just had my winter tires installed and therefore have little data to
show.  As the weather is unseasonably warm, it will most likely be a few
weeks before any snow falls.  The review that follows will represent data
collected over several weeks.

Dry pavement:
-------------
low speed:    quiet, perfectly normal response
high speed:   quiet, no tread squirm, excellent cornering

Wet pavement:
-------------
You can actually hear what sounds like the tire picking up and dispersing
the water when going *very slowly*. I've never heard that sound that clearly
before.  It almost sounds like water trickling through gravel, only there
wasn't any gravel.  Naturally it has to be quiet outside.

low speed:    fairly quiet, perfectly normal response
high speed:   quiet, no tread squirm, excellent cornering

Snow:
-----
Handling is very precise.  Braking is extremely quick.

low speed:    instantaneous braking, no skidding, excellent traction, quiet
high speed:   have not taken them on the highway in snow yet

Wear:
-----
Early indications would point to a quick wearing tire, especially in the
warmer weather but that's only a guess at this point.  I'll have to examine
the tread in the Spring.

----------------------------------------------------------

Addendum:
Snow:  Excellent even in deep snow.  Drove through a "Nor'Easter" winter
storm coming home from a curling bonspiel in Boston and maintained speeds
between 70 and 110 Kph all the way back to Montreal.

Ice:  Excellent

Wear: Quite acceptable.  I estimate I've got 2 to 3 more seasons left on
them.
