RR CLASSIC LWB REAR VIBRATION

Ok hers a series of unusual events that i cannot make sense of
1. got a new tire on the rear passside at sams club and put it on.
got immediate bad vibration in the rear end thought bad balance job so
i took it back
2. put it on again
got immediate bad vibration so i took it back and got a new tire
3. put it on again
still vibrating so i poked around

ujoints looked good but i noticed an perfectly square rust spot next to
an existing balancing weight on the rear propshaft/driveshaft
4. i took the shaft off and drove the RR surprise no vibration so i
took the shaft to be balanced
put the shaft back on and STILL VIBRATING IN THE REAR END
5. JUST FOR PRACTICE...since i need practice working on the car...i
took the shaft off and changed the u joints...just in case

ITS STILL VIBRATING

SO WHY DOES IT NOT VIBRATE WITH THE SHAFT OFF? it makes sense to me
that the problem is in the shaft since the problem goes away when its
off. as i see it all the components that are in the rear end still turn
when the drive shaft is not pushing the car?
IDEAS?

It's probably not the shaft but some thing it's connected to. If no shaft is connected it free runs to
diff etc. if the shaft is driven then the diff input bearing & other things are 'driven' not allowed to
freely rotate with no centrifugal or other forces if you know what i mean.

Owners manual says to stick the Diff lock on when jacking the vehicle... IF
it was put on it wasn't left on was it??? I'm assuming you had to put it on
to get drive for the test with the front prop only unless you have a RRC
with a viscous coupling in which case it could be the cupling thats failed.

There's a mystery vibe on the disco here, too - replaced one of the front
UJs, which made much less vibe, but it still vibes a bit.

If you've got a rusty square next to a balance weight it looks like you have
lost a weight next to the other one. Try putting a jubilee clip round the
prop (easy to fit if you unscrew it completely) and tightening it with the
heavy bit (where it joins) over the rusty square and drive it to see if it
makes any difference. Fit more than one if necessary and move them about a
bit until you get it right.
If you can't sort it like this then take it for rebalancing to someone who
manufactures them or fit another prop.
