first reaction to the answer was damm !
next question is will a 2.5 td out of a defender fit on to the box ? if
not how much would a tranfer box be to fit at lt77 box

the reason for this is i have been offerd a good 2.5 td and lt77 box
with out the transfer box , as i want to get the perkins 4203 out of
the car . any one fitted one of them to a stage 1 ???
makeing mounts wount be a problem but i m now thinking im going to nead
prop shafts etc to do the job

thanks paul

Whatever gearbox you go for, the front propshaft is going to be
the deciding factor. Mind you, if you go down the LT77 route it
may be an opportunity to move the geabox and use a "standard"
front prop, thus eliminating the double-UJ Stage 1 version. If you
can't find someone who's done this before then some very careful
measuring will be needed! As for getting a transfer box, see if you
can find someone who has wrecked their main box and replaced the
whole caboodle - the transfer box will still probably be good.

why is it when you get a good answer it spawns more questions ! so here
goes
will any lt77 box fit a 200tdi ( which i have just got ! thats the
weekend sorted ) ie is the bell houseing the same for all engins , will
a rr1984 5speed prop shaft fit?can a front prop be extended by cutting
and replacing the tube ?

i sure i will get the right answer but again end up with more questions
!

thanks in advance paul
