I'm in the middle of improving Morphs floor in the back such that I have a
hinged trap door that can be pulled up to afford access to the rear of the
gearbox and also the transferbox filler points.
I have a good bit of wood but I now need a flush fitting handle that will
fold down and not become a trip hazard.
Any ideas?
Tom - I've changed the step from the rear to the cab so that the step top
also folds up to allow access to the gearbox dip stick without having to
unscrew a million screws and remove the floor :-)

You could use a latch like the spare wheel door has. Or if you only
want a handle i think maplins have a fair range designed for speaker
boxes (the ones that are like plastic strands that push flat into the
ends) and the like which might do you?. you could always recess it
slightly into the floor too

the top of my step is unscrewable and you can reach the level plugs
through it already! :)
Its not as fancy as yours, but it is all sound/heatproofed!

Nah, I've gone much bigger this time to make more heat resistance and to
make the floor level... well there are now two levels but al least it's not
going to be wonkey

It was the gust through the last one and the heat that has prompted this
version, built more in wood and about to get thermal insulation installed
too. Got some piano hinges to help reduce draft as well.

Try:
http://rswww.com/ and plug 3974651 0826206 3399252 each into the 'find' box.
You don't need a login.

Think you have to have an account registered with them to be able to get straight
in, I had to log in and search on the number. Useless guaranteed to lose
potrential customers, but that's RS, what do you expect?

You can browse without logging in.
Annoying, too, that the links time out. Just right for sending your
potential customers away.
Just go in and do a search for handle as a keyword. Then click the
Category for "Carrying Handles and Pull Rings" and they're all there.
Not a bad selection (there's a second page).

Bloody hell. I see what you mean. Its not as if you have to log in to
the site to get the damned information in the first place.

How big does the handle need to be ? You can get a variety of handles
that are almost flush fitting (could be recessed) from a decent
chandlers. I've got one that is about 2" dia, with a hinged finger ring
in the middle (chromed).

If there's something that takes your fancy don't hesitate to ask for a

from work it's even easier.

Hmmm. Arranged suitably, this could be a great muck-spreading device for
driving past your bank/ISP/mobile phone call centre to express your opinion
of their customer service.

Anywhere supplying woodworkers will have a nice selection of brassware that
would do the job nicely (and look classy into the bargain). Flush handles
are used a lot in cabinetmaking.

Yep thats the kinda thing I'm after. I've a vague recollection now of having
seen them at B&Q superstore so I'll take a peek next time I'm over that way.

Yup, that's exactly what I was thinking of - the military chest handle.
Couldn't remember the name.
Interesting project, to fit out a Land Rover entirely with mahogany and
brass fittings, all French polished.
