... and not a drop to drink

On a recent trip into the badlands of Londontown's east end, noticed the
temp guage rising a little - nothing unusual in that really, the 110 still
doesn't like traffic much.

Later noticed tell-tale steam rising - oh oh.

Opening the bonnet revealed a steam barh in a rather garish hue of green.
Further examination revealed cooling system (almost) empty.

Fearing the worst I borrowed a bucket from the client and refilled the rad
and header - fired up and the cause became apparent - pinpick in the top
hose.

Bluetack, gaffer-tape and tie-wraps seems to have effected a reasonable
temporary repair.

Now then chaps (and chapesses), pray tell if you know, is the top hose
something I can get from my local orange&black motorists superstore or do
I need to contact paddocks/beamends/etc.?

Thanks for reading.

rad hoses are all funny shapes.  Our favourite mail-order bloke can send you
one by next-day post...

BTW - I bet your overheating is down to a crap radiator.  putting a new rad
in my 110 V8 solved it permanently, it never ventured above half-way on the
dial afterwards.

On the other hand mine (IIA with 2.0 - later 2.25 diesel) rarely (*)
"overheated" until the sender unit got changed.

(*) Dragging a ton and a bit of yacht over Snake Pass made it a bit hot
under the collar though.  Most amusing, late October, cold night, heater
running flat out, and the windows open so our boots didn't melt.  Them
in the back got none of the benefit from the heater and were starting to
mutter about hypothermia.

yeah - figured, was just wondering if this is something the non-specialist
shops carry.

could be - favourite is a knackered viscous unit in this case.  been
getting 'warm' since I removed the self-tapper that had been rammed in to
keep it locked by a previous bodger.

One step at a time.  is not really a big issue as I rarely travel at peak
traffic times - even in(to) Londontown.

ah, well... if it wasn't showing a tendency to be hot with the fan running,
then it could well be that.  I was assuming that you had functional fan
assistance of some kind, I admit.

>new as in brand new shiny?

well, black painted.  cost about 80 quid.

They usually have a good selection of Ronney Flex unless you want it with
different dia ends.

Then of course you can probably get it in blue , red , yellow or whatever
the local jap crap bling thing sports this week.
