Does anyone have any idea what the biggest tyre size it that can be
fitted to a disco 1 with a 2 inch lift? I dont mind cutting away the
wheel arches a bit, but I want to try and avoid having to do a body lift
or changing the transfer box ratios. Also, where can I have the speedo
re-calibrated if I do it?

7.50 x 16 (plus camel cut)(I cannot comment on 235/85 having never tried
that size)(alot of people will tell you it cant be done(because they know a
guy)I did it....with tired suspension too(only place i ever had it rub was
on rear mud flap brackets and only slightly and on full
articulation).Originally i did it with series lwb rims (lost a bit of
steering lock), but changed to wolfs (which got my lock back)
Dont bother with speedo recalibration....just get a gps and compare actual
to reading ( you should find its more acurate than it was before), although
im sure someone once mentioned changing the speedo drive gear can get it
back to what it should be(but dont quote me on that)

Hi,
Check www.pigletsplace.com in the galleries to see where to cut for 235/85.
I relipped mine as I wasn't going to risk ripping my tyres to shreds with
sharp edges.....

I run 31 x 10.5 x 15's on mine with little trouble, other than just
scraping the wheel arches at fulll articulation ... standard (read quite
tired (99k miles) springs and shocks, no lift. Keep umming and ahhing
about cutting the wheel arches but cba really .. ;)
Speedo actually became more accurate. At 55 indicated GPS says I'm
doing 55, at 70 indicated GPS says 69/70, at 30 indicated GPS says
29/30, beafore these tyres were added speedo over read by about 2 or 3
mph, ie indicated 30 was actually 27/28.
When we get a tuit and some spare cash we're going for a lift, springs,
shocks, all the guards etc, but for now it seems to work fine... ;)

Thanks for the info. Gives me a couple of options. Now I need to go and
look at tyre availability and prices.
