I can have it for £189! I thought it made me look a little less
aggressive.....

I'm surprised it's available to be honest.

Hehe, well, it sounds like a bloody bargain for that amount, I'd go
for it if I were you, as it's almost sure to go for a lot more on
fleabay.

> I'm surprised it's available to be honest.

Ditto, I got offered £700 for A14 NSE so that plate, especially to be
pinned to a large Range Rover, must surely be worth something.

Check there's no catches though, e.g. is it a legit number, or can it
only be fitted to vehicles from the 1930's or other similar sh.t.

Presumably that 'translates' to "AlAN SE."

My dad had a good 'un. His first company car was "JOB 57 1N"

Yep, on an old 1989 Esprit SE, presumably owned by a chap called Alan
at some point, given the number of previous owners it was probably
owned by everyone called alan at some point!

I was hoping to flog it to someone who owns a Bentley Continental SE
or something, unfortunately you can't transfer a number from a car
unless the car has a valid MOT, they do that to protect against fraud
of some kind, but it means my garage queen sits there with a £700
plate on it that I can't sell..

The thing was he didn't choose it - it just arrived with the car.

I've seen MYC 1L, BFE 1  ( Bruce Forsyth - Entertainer ), COM 1C ( Jimmy
Tarbuck )
and FAL 1C, driven by a good looking girl in London some years ago. I have
yet to see PEN 1S, but I gather they didn't issue some contentious plates.
Wouldn't mind D1 SCO though!

PEN 1 S was never issued, along with things like S3 MEN, B4 LLS, and Leeds
registrations ending in CUM or BUM.

Shame.

I've said this here before, but my favourite is a Renault van used by The
Bed Shop in Havefordwest: D1 VAN.

Ho ho - PEN 1S (or it may have been PEN 15) was on a Daimler that used
to be parked on the south side of the South Circular just before Kew
many years ago. I would often pass it early in the morning parked but
I never saw it on the road.

I don't reckon either of those were ever issued but if so they are Bury,
north Manchester registrations.

PEN 15  would have been Bury, according to my post-war AA book.

I *still* don't reckon they were ever issued, did you ever see it/them
move?
Someone probably had them made up and just stuck them on when parked for a
laugh.

I like the NZ system of number plates - any 6 or fewer alphanumeric
characters that nobody else has (and that aren't deemed
"inappropriate").  The system slips up quite often tho - RSOLE, 4NIC8,
4NIC8R and PEN15 are/were all in circulation.

A friend of mine was over there a couple of years ago with an air portable
on a shortened  R/R chassis, I think he had DRTBOX or something like that on
it.

PEN 15 is well documented.  DVLA say it's on a 2003 MCC Smart on which the
licence expired on 1/3/2007.
