insurance brokers reckon it's difficult getting "carriage of passengers for
hire or reward" for a Land Rover.

Anyone got it, and if so, whence?

Why not ask the people who run the Land Rover Weddings / Land Rover
Funerals?  I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you who insures them, it's
not as if you're in competition.

Christ it's difficult to do business in the UK - I could place that
through work in 10 minutes and even give you a choice of underwriters.
I might try a couple of them and see if they want to cover you in the UK
or whether they will organise something through their UK counterparts.

tell me about it.., :-(

1470 quid more or less to insure the tranny, and at that they won't cover a
LR instead.  bugger 'em.  This broker nominally specialises in taxi cover as
well... sheesh.

hmmm.  I quite like the idea of arranging insurance with an ennzed insurer,
it appeals to my sense that the world is screwed up.

FWIW: I'm looking for "hire or reward" for 7 or 8 passenger seat capacity in
a LR 110, will be all forward facing seats with belts, and if necessary
(probably will be) the vehicle will have a seat/belt installation check done
before putting it into service.

the last is because it's not using (all) factory fitted seats.

I looked into this some time ago as I was thinking of offering a towing
service. The vast majority of insurers would simply not consider cover
for hire and reward even though I was the only driver.

Only found one broker who would even consider it

You could try them, Manor Insurance 01424 718790
www.manorinsurance.co.uk

Basic premium was going to be about £600+ but I just gave up the idea in
the end - too hard and difficult.

I've not tried it with a Land Rover, but there's a couple of places worth
trying;

Have been useful for me in the past.
