Hi Chaps,

Discovery 92 200TDi  140K

Engine occasionaly looses power at low revs to the extent that it will
only idle and you have to wait until it will pick up again.( this
while its warming up)

I have changed the fuel filter and bled the system but does not seem
to have made any difference.

It happens mostly at cold or while warming up, once it is fully warmed
up it almost never happens (happend twice when guage had just come up
to normal position and then lost RPM as I pulled up at traffic
lights)had to let it idle at about 100rpm until it picked up again)

I have tried turning off the engine when it occurs and restart but it
takes alot of cranking gefore it starts again.

Once the car is at normal running temp I have no probs and it runs
fine, consumption is very good, no smoke,no exsesive oil use.
I am running on 20% veg oil but it was doing this on neat diesel
back in September then the problem whent away, now it has started
again.

Thanks all

John

Where shall I look next?

Look for air leaks in the fuel system.

I had a similar problem when I parked pointing uphill.  Turned out
that the fuel lift pump was faulty, and letting the diesel run back
into the tank.  Car took a lot of cranking to start and ran rough when
it did.

Maybe you have something similar letting air into the fuel lines.

Check the sediment bowl near the back axel, if the drain isn't tight this
can give the same symptoms.

I had a similar problem. After I had changed the lift pump, fuel filter and
most of the piping I found the real problem.

The fuel delivery pipe on the top of the tank had rusted and had cracked

Thank you all!,

I have more carfully bled the system again and I have an acceptable
improvement for now.

Climbed under wagon and made careful inspection of all pipes.

There is alot of wet on the body around the sedement bowl

so, this weekend I will remove it and clean it and make it tight.
(hope the jelly fish are not the "Man Of War"     veriety and I get
"stung" for new parts)

Thanks again for the help, in this case you were all correct .

Regards

John
