Or f.cking what? I have sent various e-mails to various companies about
spares & not one reply ffs?

If i ran my business like that, i wouldn't have one.

Anyone recommend a decent online or phone supplier?

Seems to be pretty universal. I have the theory that emails went to the
typing pool originally so had to wait in their place after nail filing,
etc. And ever since then have got the same low priority.

Try fax as an alternative to phoning with less chance of confusion. Again
my theory was that *it* used to be situated in the MD's office so got
instant attention.

It's the weekend...

generally, I've found both Paddock and Beamends OK.  Get the odd cockup, but
I think they've always been put right.

Is there any confirmation that Beamends is doing full mail order to all
and sundry at the moment or is it only to 'known customers'?

last I heard, he was doing mail order again.  But that's not very recent -
he's using couriers rather than the post orifice.

I agree about Paddock: run by real people, who know their Landies and
will go, if the not the extra mile, at least a furlong or so.  Example:
I got my Good Lady Wife to call there to pick some bits up for me; she
got lost, rang them for directions, and they stayed open for a few
minutes beyond their normal closing time to wait for her.  And if you go
in there and ask for a load of stuff, they'll know what job you're doing
and remind you of the gasket, or the tab washers, that you'll certainly
need but had forgotten to ask for.

I've less experience of Rimmer Bros, but no problems at all with speed
or price on the bits I've had, and their online catalogue is useful.

spose to be fair to all, I mostly deal with Beamends by phone, using the
mobile number.  Other methods of communication seem less reliable, but the
bloke himself seems genuine, to me.

He is genuine. I've known him for sometime, nothing to do with Land Rovers
(fellow user of decent computer systems....)

I have probably bought more from Richard than anyone on here & he is, very
genuine & a nice chap to boot. I can't get hold of him, i'll ring the
bugger.

Anyone reading the above might be impressed, rightly or wrongly, that you
were of a type that they wished would purchase from their rivals. Not that
you requested information in that style of course. Well probably not eh?

Anyone that wishes things to be bought from their rivals does not really
deserve to be in business in my opinion.

Bad customers are part of the job - And i very much doubt nige is a bad
customer...

Slightly agitated!!! :-)

If someone did that to me, I'd be looking for online meat cleaver or
shotgun suppliers, not Landy parts.... ;-)

Are you looking for OE parts or pattern?

I confess that email sales is a low priority to some parts of my business.
Especially if you get what is obviously a form letter sent out to several
people because, no mater how you reply, you almost never ever hear from
them again. Hence something that involves you spending a while answering
questions from a price book and trying to reply to a very generic question
from somebody who hasn't actually checked up on what we offer tends to get
put to one side in case you get some slack time later.

Tech queries from an existing customer are a totally different matter.
That's fun. Although occasionally you do wonder how we can dumb down the
instructions any more to cater for what people manage to misunderstand.
