After a land rover less summer due to lack of time to change the head gasket
and replace the radiator, I'm trying to decide whether to do a complete
engine change, costing over £1,000 for a fully reconditioned engine fitted.
The original vehicle is a 1985, but was rebuilt in 1996 using then current
spec. such as disc brakes all round and a 300tdi engine. Current mileage is
around 245,000.
Has anyone got any opinions to offer on whether it would be worth cutting my
losses and selling this as it stands as a non running project vehicle and
the sort of price I should be looking for?
As far as I'm aware the only problems are those that stopped it in the first
place...a blown head gasket follwoing catastrophic water loss. It is also
MOT'd until July 2008 and had only done about 500 miles after the last MOT,
so there should't be much for it to fail on.
Ideas and opinions welcomed.
Cheers, John

Sorry Nige, I thought I'd said It's a 110. A lot of the people on here know
the vehicle in question as it used to have 'Doom Trader' stickers on the
side when I ran survival courses.
