Having a spot of bother.  200 Tdi cylinder head out on the bench.  Can't get
the jolly old injectors out.
(Yes, I have removed the clamps)

Any suggestions gratefully received.

assuming that they are the same as on the 2.5 n/a D?, they can be a
bugger. think i got mine out using a drift under the lip and lots of
swearing.
When they come out, dont forget the sealing washers which should be on
the ends of them. Ensure they come out too and you refit new.

Disregard this if the 200tdi is nowt like the older one! ;)

I also had a problem removing one.

What saved the day was using a 17 mm spanner (IIRC) and soaking the area
around the injector and its seat on the cylinder head with lots of WD40 or
similar.
Applying rotational force slightly left and right to the injectors body
finally made it part from the cylinder head.

Do remember to buy new metallic seals.  They cost almost nothing and they
will pay for your time to buy them by not allowing diesel to drip from the
injectors when you refit them.

---------

Anyone has any input on my idea of putting a bit of high temperature grease
(cooper or aluminium) between the contact area of the injectors body and the
cylinder head so as to make future removal easier?

----------

Take care
Pantelis

buggers aint they, once the fork shaped clamps are removed  give
them a good wiggle rotating several times if they are really bad
with a large spanner fitted into the recess the clamps occupied
note ( they are not threaded it just seems like it) you need to break
the up a layer of carbon which forms in the lower part of the injector
body  until you get enough movement to pull them out.Clean out the
hole it will be coated in crap and as Tom says don't forget the
copper washers as they do tend to stick in the hole. I made a tool
out of some welding wire with a small L on the end to hook them.
Ignore the bollox in the manual when you come to replace
them 'dangling them down the hole' instead smear a blob of
grease on the shoulder above the jet and they stick in place
-makes for an easy life.

*note to self* - always blow them out with compression and some heavy rags,
pipes disconnected before removing cylinder head.

Otherwise, lots of penetrating oil and a spanner on the body to twist it
back and forth. Plus lots of swearing.

I was hoping that I would have at least a couple of months left before
parting with my hopeless landie as the chassis and door pillars are
unfortunately too far gone for economic repair, but it seems my landie has a
total death wish now.

I was not far from home when the charging light came on. I assumed it was
just the fan belt so just turned round and drove home hoping it would not
overheat on the way. Well when I got home it wasn't the fan belt, the pulley
wasn't moving at all and it was weeping oil

Not had time to look but I assume the bolt has come loose, or could this be
the result of something worse?

Incidentally since I am getting rid of it anyway if anyone wants it, they
are welcome to it.

Thanks to all.  A good 24 hr soak in WD40 followed by judicious wiggling and
a morsel of swearing got the buggers out.
