Hello,

I used to own a 1986 ex MoD landrover but sold it late last year. I am
thinking about buying a newer one and was wondering what people felt
about the TD6 vs TD5 vs TDi ?

Really you'd need to factor in what you are going to do with it (on
road daily car, off-road fun toy, or a mostly on-road sometimes
off-road sometimes daily car), and of course your price bracket!  Plus
of course whether you tow much, or want a very quiet car.  Finally of
course, which landrover, freelander, defender, discovery etc..

The 300TDi is a bit gutless compared to the others unless you increase
the intercooler size, but it seems to be the most reliable engine when
it comes to off-road use as it doesn't care about water.  300TDi
engined machines are likely to be the cheapest too.
