Gents:

I have a 2003 Disco II @ 85000 miles, that's been pretty darn good.
No issues until today.

We drive into town for a few miles, go to the movie for a couple
hours.   Come out and drive 1/2 mile and it dies.   No amount of
cranking will soliciate a pop or start.  Just cranks.

I checked the fuel pump fuse and it's good..... and I have voltage the
the pump fuse, and assume to the relay.

Suggestions..???   Is pulling the fuel pump the next step  ??       I
also preseed the "emergency fuel cut off / restore button" under the
hood to no avail.

many thanks......    Mike14k

Google for oil in wiring loom matey, well known issue that causes misfires &
a sudden lack of anything.

Quite cheap & easy to fix.

If not that, could be the alarm?

Ah, you're in the UK. If it's a V8 try crank position sensor.

Which engine?

Can you hear the fuel pump running when you initially turn on the ignition?

Have you got a spark?

No sound from the pump, which was my first tip off.   And if I pull
off the breather at the airfilter and shoot starting fluid in the
intake, it fires for a second.   Hence the thoughts of a fuel pump
issue.

So my 2001 DII with 88k and a list of things gone wrong with it as long as
your arm is a rougue then, or is the rougue yours...?

Diesel, petrol, or LPG?

The fuel pump on a diesel DII makes a very noticeable whine from the back
end of the car for a few seconds when you switch on. Not so noticable
inside the cabin but it is outside.

Long shot - try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes and bang it
back on again. I may reset whatever has thrown a hissy fit. Worked on
my old Merc.
