does anybody have any experience/comments on these manuals on CD?
Are they worth a look or not?

My copy of RAVE is great - I can't lose it (well, not without losing
two laptops, a desktop, a file server and my CD stack at the same
time).  I can print out the page I need and get it as oily and torn as
I like (or the dog likes), rather than balance the big workshop manual
on the radiator.

The only thing I've found about RAVE is that it's patchy, unless mine's an
incomplete one, perchance, if such things exist.  There are whole subjects
which don't get mentioned at all, and inevitably these are the ones you want
to know about.

The only manual that I need for my 110 is one detailing the electrical
stuff.  The manual I have only covers the alarm system and basic leccy
bits, I want a full wiring diagram.

I can't find one for download anywhere, does the RAVE CD cover it?

Oh, and a parts manual would be nice too, they're bloody expensive.

the RAVE I have is only disco and Range Rover, but that's cos I blagged it
off me sister's BF who has a range rover...

Haynes usually manage to have circuit diagrams, assuming of course there's a
haynes for your version... buggers don't do a petrol defender manual any
more, I'm sure there used to be one.

Hm, I'll take a look at Haynes.  I'd discounted them without even looking
at one of their manuals as I wasn't at all impressed with the last couple
I bought for a couple of Vauxhalls I've owned.

It's true that the new Haynes books are basically a list of "this operation
is best carried out by a dealer", which I find inordinately irritating.

however, they usually do manage to get the data mostly-right, and wiring
diagrams.

You can download a lot for free on these sites.  Check if they have
what you need before buying.

Being able to print out (and search for) exactly what you need is
handy.
