On our Freelander TD4 2001 model,we have intermittant problem where you turn
the ignition key and theres some clicking but nothing fires the car. This
may happen three or four times a week and will usually take six or seven key
turn tries before it ignites. Can anyone suggest a problem so i can check it
out before I take it to an (expensive) dealer.

Thanks
Lee

If it's a rapid regular clicking from the engine bay then suspect something
on the starter system.

We got it on Rover 214's alot at work usually indicative of a low battery,
but in your case sounds like a poor connection somewhere.
