People Hi,

Discovery channel is now showing the series but I managed to lose the first
episode.
Is anybody kind enough to send it to me on a DVD or video cassete? Of course
I will undertake the cost and postage.
I am planning on putting all episodes together on a DVD for those
interested.
It will be broadcasted by Discovery channel on a daily basis (apart from
weekends) October 22nd.

Thanks in advance
Pantelis (in Greece)

A professional DVD is supposed to be coming from I2I the producers
before the end of the year.

That is extremely good news.
No need to worry about daily recordings and skipping adverts then.

Take care and thanks for letting me know

Given the low price of the DVD in the shops, is it really worth the time
and effort ?

THE BEST 4X4 CHRISTMAS X FAR

Cranleigh, 22/09/04

Everyone’s talking about it.  “A 4x4 is Born” has taken the Land Rover
community by storm.  Five hours of practical, entertaining TV
dedicated to the best-loved 4x4 the world has ever known.

The show, featuring Mark Evans and his workshop team transforming a
clapped out, 1985, 4-door Range Rover (value £250) into a spectacular
100” Land Rover special (value £100,000 plus!), has achieved
record-breaking audience ratings in the UK and is scheduled for
transmission in over 70 countries across the world.

In response to massive demand from the Land Rover community worldwide,
a two-disc DVD set of the series has now been released and signed
copies are available exclusively through Bulldog Specialist Vehicles.
As a limited edition special offer for enthusiasts, Bulldog are also
making available copies of a unique CD Rom containing over 150 of Mark
Evan’s personal photographs of this extraordinary workshop project,
together with a fabulous screen saver featuring the most
mouth-watering shots.  This unique offer is only available through
Bulldog Specialist Vehicles.

The DVD will be on release from 25th October 2004 and can be
pre-ordered from Bulldog’s online shop at www.bulldog-sv.com or by
freephone 0800 319 6900.

The bonus material on the DVD will include a selection of Land Rover
enthusiasts with their vehicles, When Land Rovers Go Mad – extreme
Land Rovers including the Bird Cage, Stretched Land Rover and the
floating Land Rover and clips of Mark on a 4x4 driving course.

Further information about the Project

The build is inspired by the late 1970’s special vehicles of which a
limited run of only 25 were ever produced for the Swiss and French
Army, and are quoted as being “the best Land Rovers ever made”.
Mark’s aim is to take an old rust-bucket Range Rover rescued from the
scrap heap and transform it into the ultimate bolder-crawling beauty!

The starting point is a 1985 four-door Range Rover that a mate of
Mark’s had rotting in a garage.  This he will totally strip back to
the bones, and along with salvaged parts from other Land Rovers and
Range Rovers, will combine to create a very special hybrid – as a 4x4
Is Born.  The extreme 3.5 litre V8 powered, R380 gearboxed off-roader
– custom built by Mark – will also boast some serious off-road kit,
including OUTRAGEOUS hi-lift suspension system; a hand-made, one-off
roll cage; a specially modified twin tank fuel system and air-operated
diff-locks in both front and rear axles.

Mark talks about the project with such enthusiasm, that it makes you
wonder how deep his love for the Land Rover runs.  “My Dad worked on
the Land Rover B40, which was a special Rolls Royce engined  vehicle
and first got me interested in 4x4s”, explains Mark, “and my first
bank account was known in my family as my Land Rover Trust Fund”, he
laughs, “although I have only recently managed to purchase one after
41 years – better late than never!”

The finished vehicle was exhibited at the Land Rover World Show at
Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire on 19-20 June 2004 and was voted Land
Rover World Best in Show – a much coveted title
