These guidelines may help:-

1. Look confused when she asks you why you need Mud Sliders - explain this
is for safety and not a toy
2. When she discovers you on E-bay late at night looking for parts, assure
her that at least it is not another woman
3. When the the towel gets oil on it, assure her that Persil gets oil out
these days.
4. Carburettors are very valuable and that's why you must dismantle it on
the kitchen table and you need to be near the sink. You are saving lots of
money doing it yourself and that keeps her in jeans, handbags and "shoes."
5. Land Rovers will continue to grumble roughly once a month - not much
difference there
6. When you start a job on the Land Rover it will take you longer that what
you think, if she asks you to do shopping, wallpapering - then say that you
are really sorry but this urgent job on your Landie will take time.
7. A welder is needed - tell her to get over it.

You have to realise to understand a Land Rover you can buy a manual, get a
friend round, post to this newsgroup - there is no such manual  for women.

Next to my bed I have a box...
in that box is
an original 1984 ninety-one-ten brochure
an original 1984 owners manual
a haynes workshop manual
an owners workshop manual
a screwfix catalogue
a machine mart catalogue
a paddocks spares catalogue
a 2 foot high pile of various land rover magazines
a folder of print-outs from various websites detailing the odd-jobs
that haynes never mention in enough detail.

My reply to her comments about this?

'at least it's not a pile of porn mags'

In my front porch I have half a 5 litre bottle of EP90 and another of
ATF.

I have a short-cut on my computer that with one click brings up the
results for an ebay search for "land rover",

I have 6 different sized washers in my pockets and a nut and bolt.

In my coat pocket is a spare fuel filter.

oh yes, I'm a land rover man.

Regards.

Well you're on your way.  Your collection of assorted washers et al is
nowhere near a match for what Charlotte carries in her handbag.

Totally fecked if I ever need owt in a hurry though, by the time she
finds anything in there it'd be quicker to nip down to Sodbury :-)

8. You really need 2 Land Rovers - one to go and get the spares for the
other one.

No, women tend to need more hands-on experience....

That's because we're all unique.

A lifetime to master one, but fun to tinker with.
