Can I obtain dealer's repair record on line? There is a squeak when I first
start the car then it developes into a chirping sound. Any insight  on this
will be most appreciated.

Where are the sounds coming from?  Under the hood?  From the dashboard?
Does the sound vary with the engine speed or vehicle speed?

There is no record of the dealer's repair record on line.

The chirping noise comes from under the hood,  near the front I think.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.  The chirping sound comes from under the hood. When
cold start (30 degree F.), after the initial loud squeak ,  the sound doesn't
vary with the engine speed or vehicle speed.

It is kind of difficult to diagnose a sound that doesn't vary with engine or
road speed.  A loud squeal at startup is often a loose accessory drive belt,
but a chirping sound that doesn't vary kind of rules that out.  Do you have
the air suspension and does the back of the car sit a little low after
sitting all night?  I wonder if the compressor is making noise.

I will have the accessory belt checked out. This car doesn't have air
suspension.
THANKS AGAIN!

You're welcome and good luck!  BTW, you might wish to check the cooling fan
as someone else suggested.

Maybe the fan?

Hard to tell without more descriptive information, but if you have quite a
few miles on the 400, I would check out the fan bracket.  They go usually in
the range of 125K-150K miles.  If that is it, you have to replace the entire
assembly, and not just the fan bearing.  Watch the fan when it is running,
and see if you see it wobble a little.
Just a thought....good luck.

I have a 1990 LS 400, 62,000 miles, yearly dealer maintenance. I will have
the fan belt checked out. Thanks for the reply!
