Does the 2005 ES330 require medium or high test gasoline, or can low
test gas be used (isn't that 89 octane?)?

The Lexus ES330 will run on 87 octane gasoline without problems - but
you can run whatever you feel yields the best performance. Just don't
mix octanes at the pump.

Even 87 CAN be used.  This is argued at the dealership too.
Tech people at Lexus (corp.) almost unanimously recommend 93.

Twenty cents times thirteen gallons...
 $2.60 difference per tank.  hmmmm....

My '05  ES330  runs just fine on 87 octane.
