1992 LS400 brake pads

Our '92 LS 400 is going to need new brake pads soon and this may be a great
opportunity to upgrade from just "regular" pads to something that may
improve the mediocre brake performance the first generation LS had.

Anyone know of a good upgrade pad that would improve braking performance?

No surprise. I don't think Toyota/Lexus cars are ever designed for
high performance. For typical driving Akebono ProAct ceramics are fine
for the likes of lighter ES3xx and Camrys. There aren't a lot of
aftermarket choices for LS -- for example a quick search show the
absence of EBC Red, Raybestos Police Pursuit, performance ceramics or
even the older carbon metallics.

Well, you forget the sainted Supra TT, as high performance a coupe as anyone
has ever made.

Mostly, you are right, though. Toyotas are the best Buicks GM never built
and Lexi are the best Cadillacs GM never built.

Guess Toyota junked the Celica drived car in 2002. But many are happy
with the BMW 3[35] Twin Turbo and 2008 Caddy CTS, considered the #1
and #2 performance cars.

The Supra had nothing to do with the Celica from 1986 til 2002, when
it was discontinued.

"Many are happy with"? Many are happy with lots of models. What's that
mean?

By who, you?

Be nice. He just misinterpreted entry-level luxury sports sedan to mean
performance car...and forgot about the G35.

The Supra I am talking about was from the 90's and had exactly nothing to do
with any Celica. It was related to the SC300/400 and rear wheel drive. Had a
twin turbo version of the six in the SC300 putting out 320 hp and a gift for
accepting lots more boost without complaint and making lots of power. Lots
and lots of power. It was and is a favorite with the fast and furious crowd.
The bane of many a very high buck sports car in street races. Styling was
pretty bland and it would make a great sleeper except that everyone who
knows anything about fast cars knows it shape and is not going to be fooled
into thinking this is some weird push-over Celica relation.

A great pity it is gone from the market. Toyota can build ubber sports cars
if they want, they just seldom do.

I don't know anyone considers the 335 or the CTS are the #1 and #2
performance cars. Simply not true. What many off the buff books do say is
that the 335 is the best small sports sedan short of things like M3's and
S4's (and in my opinion Evo IX's and last generation STi's). There are lots
of way better performance cars. The CTS is nice, but a bit chunky and down
on power. The G35 is another good sports sedan, of course. I suspect that
when the Nissan GTR shows up next year it will embarrass even the V8 M3, but
it's $70,000. (I think this would be great. BMW is getting arrogant and
needs to have its lunch stolen by some Japanese bully.)

As for the 335, yeah it's quick, but damn it's ugly and expensive. I tried
to learn to like it, but I just can't. Not good because someday my E46 330i
will need replacing and it will not be with anything that looks like an E90.
The thing also runs very hot if exercised and I sure would not want to buy
one with lots of miles on the engine unless I knew exactly what type of
person had been driving it. BMW ought to be ashamed for not having made an
oil cooler standard on the thing out the gate.
