sjmmail2000-247@yahoo.co.uk - 24 Aug 2008 07:10 GMT Lexus has confirmed it will launch its brand-new LS 460 at the Moscow Motor Show on 26 August. So far few of the major details are known about the saloon except that it will have sure-footed dynamic abilities as well as advanced active safety systems further strengthened a result of the addition of permanent all-wheel drive. The new all-wheel drive system will have three different settings delivered by the impressive Torsen Limited Slip Differential. mcbrue - 27 Aug 2008 05:10 GMT Oh wow! Dynamic 4 wheel drive !!!! I wonder if they have cured any of the 5000 small problems yet - like the river of water running down the drivers front windshield at the side during rain, or the mismatch of wiper to glass so wipers scrape and skip unless in a downpour, of the speed of the auto wipers, or the size of the rear view mirrors, or the lack of memory positions on the passenger seat, orn the drips from the tunk lid into the trunk in a rain storm, or ... ah why go on! They never will learn how to make a luxury car.
GIga - 03 Sep 2008 04:45 GMT And you will never cease to amaze me. The whining is incredible -- much more dramatic than my 5-year old Dachshund (who are known to be whiners, and are cute, so can be forgiven... unlike ...). I wonder how you know all this about the LS460 since you don't own one. Or, are you projecting some imaginary crap that someone told you in a blog somewhere? Oh. I forgot. YOU drive the (drumroll) ULTRA LUX LS400 (woo hoo!), and therefore are the world's foremost expert. Of course, everything you touch seems to turn to crap (coincidence? perhaps...), so I dunno, maybe (just maybe) you're a whiny complainer who finds fault with everyone and everything (with the notable exception of yourself). Personally, MY LS600hL is just ducky. No windshield problems, no rain problems, no drip problems, no auto speed problems, no problem with the mirror problems... ah why go on! You will never learn to appreciate great engineering.

So glga just answer the following about the only one small system, the windshield - is it at the wrong angle so it glares? is there enough tint at the top to protect your vision as much as a real car does? is the glass better matched to the wipers so the wipers do not skip over the windshield making horrible noise and leaving skp marks until the rain is pouring? do the wipers leave clean areas on the winshield or do you get a big river of water down the drivers side or now maybe on the passenger's side? The answer for my 2006 LSUltra430 is the negative option for each of these questions. For a Mercedes, the answers are all positive. When I test drove a 460 out west I got negative answers.
St. John Smythe - 04 Sep 2008 12:43 GMT > Ah hA !! It is Glga !!!!!! So glga just answer the following about the > only one small system, the windshield - is it at the wrong angle so it > glares? That's just silly; windshields don't glare. Of course, if you're too short, and the sun is low in the sky, any car's windshield is going to allow the sun in your eyes, if you don't use the sun visors as intended.

GIga - 05 Sep 2008 03:16 GMT Windshield glare? What are you, 4 ft. tall? Have you ever hear of a sun visor? I suppose it's Lexus' fault that the sun is in the sky and is really, really bright (unlike you)? Perhaps the mad Germans will figure out how to eliminate the sun, but until that happens, I guess we'll all just have to deal. If your wipers skid, then you probably have worn out or dirty wipers. I honestly doubt the angle of the windshield has anything to do with it. One other possibility is that your windshield is really dirty, in which case perhaps you ought to consider cleaning your car? Or is that too expensive for you?
Why in the world do you own a Lexus if you're so convinced that it's a piece of crap? Either you're really stupid, or you get jollies out of writing nonsense on newsgroups just to see how people will respond. Or, maybe both? When the ML came out, my wife bought one. Biggest mistake we ever made -- what an absolute piece of crap that car was. Never bought another one (oh! I learned from my mistake!), and just tried to forget all about the experience (rather than continuing to spew useless untrue garbage on the mercedes newsgroup). Please please please go buy a Mercedes, and never darken Lexus' doorstep again with your presence.

Where did you get yours? (Isn't this fun?)

It never came close to BMW or Mercedes, but for many working poor (and buying cars with Consumer Reports in hand) it's just fine. For example the new 8-speed clunker transmission shift takes 100 ms, instead of 8 ms in the efficient DSG (Direkt Schalt Getriebe) using Borg Warner technology.
But I think Toyota did a great marketing job with the Lexus division, as many owners didn't even realize they are actually driving modified Camrys (Lexus ES, RX)!

And your "data" is (as usual) meaningless, inaccurate (at best), and out of context. Where do you GET this crap from? McBrue? Or do you just make it up (not that different from getting from McBrewski actually!)?
