try to move it around and it feels loose like not attached to
anything, I hope my expanition is good, help please.

The door lock actuator may be bad, the wiring for the door lock actuator may
be loose or damaged, the master door lock switch may be bad, or the
connecting rod between the lock and actuator may be disconnected.  In any
case, the inner door panel has to come off.

Thnaks Ray, I am guessing it may be the connecting rod, since the lock/
unlock knob moves but no sound comes from the end of the door by the
latch, like other lock/door are making, but again I could be wrong, now
is it fairly easy to take the panel off, I am pretty hands on but dont
want to cause more damage, any diagram/instruction somewhere on www.

If this link doesn't work:
http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c15280199bcb
Go to www.autozone.com and look up a 2000 Lexus RX (they didn't have a 1999
model but they are basically the same) under "vehicle repair guides" and
look up body - interior - door locks.

Try this shortcut:
http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c15280199bcb#hd1-1-1

If that doesn't work,

Go to www.autozone.com

Near the top of the page, click on the "Manage My Vehicles" link.

Click on the "Add a Vehicle" link.

On the "Vehicle Selection Step 1 of 4" page, click on "2000."

On the "Vehicle Selection Step 2 of 4" page, click on "Lexus" in the I-P
column, just under Land Rover and above Lincoln.

On the "Vehicle Selection Step 3 of 4" page, click on "RX 300" 2WD or AWD as
appropriate for your vehicle.

On the "Vehicle Selection Step 4 of 4" page, click on "6 Cylinders F 3.0L
SFI DOHC' link.

On the "Vehicle Selection: Complete" page, click on Repair Guides down a
little ways from the top of the page.

On the "Repair Information" page, click on the "Vehicle Repair Guides" link
on the left side of the page under "Repair Info".  That is under Login, My
Zone, Shopping, then Repair Info.

When you click on the Repair Info, the "Repair Guide" page should come up.
Click on "Body."

Look at the menus, and click on "Interior"

In the "Interior" menu, click on "Locks and lock systems."

Good luck!
