I have an 03 RX 300 and when my RX was recently serviced at Lexus,
they loaned me a 2009 RX 350. Unfortunately, I found it very
unpleasant to drive because the parking brake pedal is slow low that
it prevented me from resting my left foot on the foot rest. I had to
place it awkwardly to the left of the brake pedal. The RX 350 that I
sat in in the showroom had the same problem.  I am thinking about
purchasing a new SUV in the near future, and I would like to consider
the RX, but I'd have to scratch it off my list unless the parking
brake pedal can be raised a considerable amount so that it allows me
to rest my left foot on the footrest w/o the pedal pressing against my
leg. Can the pedal be raised or do I have to find an SUV with a
parking brake release on the center console (where it really
belongs!)?

The parking brake pedal was probably lowered to make the pedal easier to
depress.  Check with the service department to see if they can raise it, but
I doubt it.
