Do you have the correct code?

If so....you have to leave the radio "on" showing the
word "code" for 61 minutes.  After this amount of time
the radio will unfreeze and allow you three more attempts.

If you dont have a code, or dont have the correct code...
Go to the dealer.

yes we had the code.  i reset it myself.  but she could wastrying to help
and trip the anti theft mechanism of the radio. we own the can and the
radio.  we did not steal it.  paid cash money for it.  have the title.  is
there any knowledgeable democrats or libitarians in this group?

If you "did not steal it.  paid cash money for it" and "have the
title", then why don't you just take it to the dealer?  He can easily
reset it.

Of course, if there's a REASON you don't want to take it to the
dealer, then .........

I didnt accuse you of anything.

I gave you your two options, what is wrong with
what I stated? My post had nothing to do with
the issue of ownership.

There are two levels of "anti theft"...
First you get three chances to enter inthe correct code.
If you fail three times the radio will lock you out from
trying a fourth, until you wait 61 minutes.
Then you get three more chances.

If you dont have the correct code, you have to go to
the dealer.  They are the only ones that will have access to
the correct code quickly.

Understand??

Nothing, but it didn't really provide the answer to his question either.  I
just recently went through the same issue, and believe me the user manual
could have been written much more clearly - the procedure is not exactly
intuitive.  It is not that the instructions are wrong, but they have you
jumping back and forth to accomplish the task, which is found at the END of
the section and titled "(c) If the anti-theft system is activated".  I
emailed him a fax copy of the user manual section for a 1990 LS400.  I
believe THAT is what he was looking for.

Allow me to quote his original post....
"any and all suggestions would be helpful"
I think my response falls somewhere in there.

He then, sort of, accused me of accusing him of....
stealing the radio or something.  Like I thought he
wasn't the owner of it....
"we own the car and the radio.  we did not steal it."
"paid cash money for it.  have the title."
I, of course, did no such thing. Nor do I care.

The last thing he does is make a statement saying
my answer was not knowledgeable.  That I must not
be a "democrats or libitarians"  or something.
Who knows what that means.....

Hope he figures it out. But I really don't care.
Good luck.

Point taken ... and actually I never knew about the 61 minute thing
(although I am not sure if any of our combined tidbits will be applicable to
his specific situation)... so your efforts did not fall upon deaf ears.
Thanks!

Good Adam and Jerohm,
I thank you for your replies.  I am beset with frustations of my problem of
resetting this radio.  I apoligies to you, Adam, for taking my frustation
out on your reply.  my lady has fiddled with the security settings to the
point that i am effectively lock out from using the code i have to reset the
radio.  the unit is dead.  no read out on the LED.  I have been to the
dealer.  and there is where my frustration lies.   I am honest man.  I earn
an honest living as a self employed and extremely busy handyman.  The repair
cost the dealer stated seems reasonable if it involves equipment that it
wouldn't be cost effective for me to purchase for a one time use.  However,
that doesn't  seem to be case, went pressed for was the procedure involved
no equipment was use.  Further, i arrived at the dealership in my work garb
of faded paint stain jeans and skirt, my hair down the the middle of my
back, the staff, while outwardly business as usual, treated me as though the
color of my skin were the wrong color or i spoke the wrong lauguage. It is
not often that i experience such snobberry, I'm sorry i took it out on you
Adam.  Jerohm, I thank you for the emailed data but alas, as i have stated
earlier the security system of this radio has locked out any further
attempts to reenter the codes.  the only option is the dealer or find
someone with the propriatary knowledge of the dealership on how to reset the
system.  Thank you both again.  I continue my plea that if any have the data
i require it would be greatly appreciated.
humbled in life.

You need sense to own a Lexus.
It seems that you have too large a chip on your shoulder to be a suitable
Lexus owner, perhaps a Trabant would be more suitable?  If you obtain a
Lexus you should not expect it to be cheap to maintain, they are a high
quality item, usually owned by discerning people and need a high level of
commitment
It sounds as though the radio has locked you out in protest, sometimes
apparently inanimate objects have more sense than we realise.

mrcheerful,
there is no excuse for judging a person by his appearance.  I prefer to do
business to those who judge a man by his character and virtue not his
appearance.

Hi, Gentlemen,

I am Susan, the Lexus owner.

Alas, I don't have a great deal of sense.

I do really like my car, however.  I purchased it two months ago, as I
quickly had to have a car that was comfortable, fast, and reliable for
business travel.  I often have to drive two hours to an appointment.  This
car is wonderful.  I am a good driver - but not yet savvy about my new
vehicle.

In any event, you would probably call what I did to the radio CARELESS.

Sigh.

I have no doubt that when I take it to the dealer, I will be treated well.
In the meantime, as I have been on the road working nearly 24-7 since the
RADIOGATE incident, Mark has been kind enough to take it upon himself to try
to fix it for me during my day off. So explains this little back-and-forth
you all have been having.

Thank you all for your imput.

Yours Sincerely,

Sue
