Hello
Since there are no Protege Groups Im hoping someone can help with this
question
Recently Purchased a 94 Protege for a Student driver with 100K miles
on it
Car has been in driveway for the past 2 months " Until the student
Passes his Driving test"
Strange thing occured, when you start the car it turns over right
away with no problem, BUT Stays in park and will not budge into
reverse or any other gear
Car is almost on Empty " Since he has only been starting it every
morning"
Does anyone out there have a similar experience with this defect
His first car and he would love to drive it " Or be able to bring it
to a mechanic at least...LOL"
Any info would be greatly appreciated
Thank you in advance

I assume you are stepping on the brake b4 attempting to move the
transmission lever?  Also, is the car on a hill where it's own
weight might be preventing moving the lever?  If so, use the hand
brake and then u can force the lever to move, but only if that
is the problem.  If the car is on level ground, release the handbrake
and rock the car a bit, may help.
