Is this a new battery?

You can get help at http://forum.miata.net/vb/
also at  http://www.miata.net/

These are excellent sites for Miatas.

Normal voltage from an alternator is about 14.4V, so yours is a little
low but should be enough to charge the battery.  Check for silly things
like lights staying on (is there a boot light?).

Have you also tried posting to uk.rec.cars.maintenance, which is a more
active group?
