I have a '03 and was under it for the first time the other day checking
things out.  I noticed what looked like a minature muffler between the cat
and the big muffler, what is this little thing?
Can it be taken out and what are the pluses and minuses of doing so?

Thanks.

It's a resonator, a small muffler that tunes the sound of the exhaust
system. The only effect of removing it would be a louder, raspy exhaust
tone that would probably annoy you. No extra power, and very little
weight saving.
