A friend of mine has some 1993 Mazda OEM alloy wheels in near-perfect
condition that have had a very nicely done chrome finish put on them.
They look great except that the center pieces that cover the lugnuts are
still the grey/silver plastic.

Does anyone know of a company that makes a metal replacement cover for
these wheels that is chrome or can be chromed? He wants to keep the
wheels and is willing to spend some money to have the parts fabricated
by a machine shop if it isn't too outrageous in cost.

Thanks!

I don't doubt that there are replacements but the easiest/cheapest way is to
paint the center caps.  They'll require repainting every now and then but
it's not a difficult project.  They can be painted chrome or to match the car
or whatever.

Try Pot Metal in Tallahassee, I believe they can chrome plastic.

Thanks, I will send him the link. If they can not do it, then I guess
his best option is chrome paint like XS11E suggested unless he feels
like spending real money.

Oops, I have a feeling that chroming the center caps may not be that
cheap either.  :(  I forgot what they charged for my wipers but
it was real money.  Also, there was a couple of months wait; I
understand that they are quite well known and they chrome the
weirdest things (I saw a lot of classic car parts in the shop.)

Leon,

Neat place, good to know. Those center caps should be easy / cheap enough to
ship back and forth.
