94 Mazda 626 v-6 2.5= starts occasionally and then shuts off. Mechanic is
scratchingf his head, replaced distributor-it did the same thing- he
believes it is before the distributor- I mentioned ignition modual he said
there is not one before the distributor...he said he's ordering the manual.
Help...I need my car back asap

looking at schematics in the Haynes manual... only other electronics before
distributor is the PCM.
the Haynes troubleshooting section suggests 'loose or faulty electrical
connections at the distributor, coil, or alternator.

Some of the Mazda cars have a connector between the distributor and the
resto of the electronics. This connector has been known to occasionally
develop intermittent connections. On mine, the connector was attached to a
pigtail connecting to the distributor. wiggling it while the car was running
or during an attemp to start disclosed the problem. The ignition module
inside the distributor also failed intermittently after the connector was
repaired, and seemed to be a temperature related failure.
