Right, when my '91 MX5 dies (hopefully not for some time yet!!), I'm getting myself this one: http://www.arielatom.com/ariel/site.php , click on Showroom then Video. I can't wait to turn into an alien myself. And it's even got a boot (trunk), would you believe it... Leon, think you'll be able to fit the same amount in there as you do in Bozo? I think the detachable headlights might fit in there, or maybe not. But it's got indicators and is allowed on the road (at least here in the UK), so that's got to be good for something. I wonder if any have been successfully registered the US as a street car. At least one, in Washington (state). It was delivered without engine, and registered as a kit car. I doubt any state would permit a completed new one to be registered, but kit cars are legal in most states if you're patient and willing to jump through enough bureaucratic hoops. Sure; my pal around the corner is making extremely good progress building a Cobra replica - we estimate it'll weigh slightly less than my M2, even with a 351W bored/stroked to 395 cu. in :-) It's not impossible to register a kit car in California but there sure are a number of hoops. Dana The Atom is an awesome ride to be sure but when you look at the near total lack of utility, it means that you've got to have serious money for a play toy. The Miata, by contrast, is enormously refined. I mean you can get in and out, have a place to put some stuff inside, there is a trunk that sort of works for you, climate controls, radio you can hear, etc. Don't look for creature comforts in an Elise. On the other hand: put on a helmet as a matter of routine and live in an even more purist world in the Atom. It's hard to watch that video and not want to play!
